wine of the week
2011 Gray Monk, Riesling, BC VQA Okanagan Valley
The sun is shining, the flip flops are out and spring is in full swing. As the days are getting longer, we’re slowly moving into summer mode. Beyond a lighter wardrobe, our eating and drinking habits also change. Refreshing vibrant whites replace big bold reds. And what better than a fine local wine to celebrate this change of season? Gray Monk is a well-known producer amongst BC locals but their current release of Riesling is the best we’ve had from them. Bright lime and lemon notes awaken your senses and enliven your palate. Slightly off-dry but perfectly balanced by a piercing acidity. A fine choice for an aperitif or with any Asian dish; especially if it’s spicy. Cheers to Spring! - MB

$14.99 (SKU# 321604) Available at BC Liquor Stores
